I also wanted the deferred offer. App'd in the store and was declined. Called the backdoor number this morning and was told the decline was due to too many new accounts and too many INQ's. While she questioned me about this, she did not mention anything about CLD or closing my account because of this.
I let her split the line to take advantage of the special financing. I also asked if this was a one time deal or not. She said the 12 months comes around from time to time.
So while I took the INQ, I never felt like they would close the account down.

Did you already have another Barclay product?
Yes, I had the Rewards Visa...
Interesting, this morning I got an alert for my USAA Credit Monitoring service...
They pulled TU on Saturday when I originally applied, and they pulled EX yesterday during the recon call. I guess that is how they knew about my new Amex cards!
So, I am a good example here. They knew of all of my new cards - quite a few - and they did not threaten to close their card. They could have and I would not have cared... I only use the Rewards Visa for iTunes purchases.

Long time since anyone posted on this thread, but i just joined this site to ask the following questions..... first off, I recently got 2 cards from barclays, a Frontier Air and US Airways card. The first one had a $59 annual fee. the 2nd didn't. I had to spend like $1000 on the Fronteir card to get 35,000 miles. Done. the US Air car offered 40,000 miles for my 1st purchase. I did this, and though the miles credit is on my statement, it has yet to show in my US Airways dividend account yet. I logged in today to check on both accounts and see they have both been CLOSED with no notice or reason given. After reading old threads here, I'm guessing that me applying for (and getting) 2 new cards (a Citi Business and a Southwest card from Chase) may have somehow caused Barclays to close my accounts!? (WHY?) My questions now are: a) will i get my 40,000 miles for US AIrways and be able to KEEP/use my miles on Frontier (which i never use, but couldn't resist a cheap 35k miles). Also, do i have any recourse for the $59 annual fee i paid when they close my account just TWO MONTHS in!?!? thanks for any help. Kent

@Anonymous wrote:If Barclays ever CLD's me, I'll close that account faster than you can say (well as fast as you can say) CLOSE this account!! The measly 2,500CL they gave me will not hurt me one bit to lose.
I have nothing against Barclays, but I will not be happy with a CLD just for opening one acct since I opened the Barclays Card (The account I opened just happened to be the BankAmericard Cash Rewards Visa Siggy PC'd to the BoA World MasterCard Cash Rewards Visa Siggy 5000CL)
As would I.

Ditto.
I'd be ticked off in a major way if they touched my account. Of course, it's there perogative to be ultra-sensitive. But, the bottom line is if they are dealing with someone who is responsible with their credit, there is no need to be taking AA over inquiries or new accounts. Period. If they do, then they are doing so simply for the sake of enforcing a a unwritten policy.
As Mustanglvr said, they would defniitely lose me as a customer. Years ago, BOA ticked me off in a major way with their debit card fees. They have yet to see a penny of my money all these years later...
When I got my Apple card, the customer rep said I can get the 0% financing again by calling up. The rule of thumb is not to get any new CC's for 6 mouths.
I probably sound like a broken record with Barclay, but they do offer some decent BT offers at times. I have the Apple Financing card and sometimes get checks for 0% financing for 6 months with 1% BT fee. I would take advantage of the offer, but my CL (500) isn't enough to justify handling another payment for 6 months. It might be worth keeping the account open in case you do have a moment where you need 6 months interest free.
