Re: Barclay's Sallie Mae

I've been eyeing this card for a while now and am just itching to apply; I'm planning to finally do it as soon as one more cycle closes on each of my cards so I'm getting pretty excited

I'm itching to apply for this card too, but I've recently got Citi, BoA, and AMEX in the last two weeks. Think I should go for it or wait??

I would wait until atleast you 61 day CLI on the AMEX. 2 advantages that way. possibility for higher limit as well as limit the effect of "new accounts" influencing Barclays decision

AMEX BCE 18000CL, Citi DC 15000CL, AMEX EDP 15000CL, CSP 5000CL, Fidelity AMEX 5000CL, Sallie Mae MC 7400CL, US Bank Cash+ 5000CL, Chase Freedom 4000CL, Capital One QS 6000CL, BoA Better Balance 2500CL, Discover It 2000CL, BoA Better Cash Rewards 500CL, Chase Amazon CC 700CL

It has taken me a while to convince myself its for the best, but it will be worth it in the end when that instant approval and high limit pops up in a few weeks!

Re: Barclay's Sallie Mae

I know that Amazon counts as a bookstore. But does that mean we can buy anything on there and we still get the 5% back? This would pretty much make my Chase Amazon obsolete as well.

Yes, (except Amazon payments).   Chase is only better if you buy a lot, over about $15K a year, and even then you should use Sallie Mae for the first $9000.

Still hesitant for Barclay's in general. Seems like whatever they give you, you're stuck with. Could be a platinum with 500 bucks starting limit..

I was able to do CLI from 5000 to 7500 after two pay periods.

I think that was more of a reference to the platinum vs. world. I apped and got the platinum unfortunately. I would gladdly reapp for this in a few months with higher CLs in my stable to get the world over platinum. For a go-to amazon card, extended warranties would be a very nice perk and well worth another HP for me. I don't know of a way to make this happen with Bclay.
