Re: Barclaycard....Horrible Card

Based on numerous comments from other posters on this forum this seems to be very common practice for Barclays.

Starting Scores 10/12: EQ 460 (FICO)/TU 502 (FAKO)/EX 474 (FAKO)
(7/14): EQ 572 (FICO)/TU 624 (FICO)/ EX 612 (FICO)

Current (2016): EQ 605 (FICO)/TU 657 (FICO)/EX 646 (FICO)

Re: Barclaycard....Horrible Card

My plan is to actually transfer the balance to another card ASAP.  I don't even want a balance to remain on that card any longer than required.

Re: Barclaycard....Horrible Card

They are very picky when it comes to new accounts. Some of us, like myself get away with it. I opened about 7 new lines of credit within 6mos of being approved for the NFL Card. I have opened 3-4 more before my one year with Barclays. (Still no AA, knock on wood) My util is close to 0% across the board. AAOA is about 1.5 yrs.

How many inquiries were showing when they shut you down?

Re: Barclaycard....Horrible Card

You can try to recon. Getting angry on a issuer is valid but Barclays is famous for being sensitive to number of HP's. They mostly want to avoid customer you want credit from too many issuers. Try to be polite during recon and make your case. If they approve your request then SD it. A non active card hurts a lender because they have already set aside capital for the credit limit provided.

No such luck, tried to recon the account.  I was very polite, but was boiling on the inside.  They said that maybe in 6 months to try again and I politely said no thanks.

I doubt that this is hurting the lender in any real way (CL here was $1,300) and this is much more psychological for the customer than "teaching the bank a lesson" as they will neither know nor care.

Re: Barclaycard....Horrible Card

Well I would recommend that you now garden for 6 months and then apply for either a Amex or a GE card. Both have generous cli policies. Once you have good limits on any those cards then take an HP and apply cli on Chase freedom. Chase sometimes tries to match the existing credit limits. You now need to garden for 6 months. I am also planning to stay in garden for a year.
