to see how they (and other sites) compare for the merchants you use. For most things, shopdiscover is likely better than Barclays RewardBoost, but for a particular merchant, Barclays may have a better offer.

barclay offers 5 points per $1 at sephora.com and ShopDiscover offers 5% cash back. im not good with points thats why i never used my barclay but they sent me an email today. i didnt know they too had their own online shopping portal. just so simple if credit card companies ust say cashback. they always got to play around with points! such a marketing sheme. thats why i try do research first. if only i knew long before id stick with cash back like blu cash, citi double cash, discover it also thinking getting freedom, chase sapphire points. actually most travel almost all are all points. got points, miles and cash back gosh. cant keep up
I'd rather have 5 points versus 5 cents.
Points are much more valuable due to their versatility. You can sometimes more than double their 1 cent par value by transferring points to travel partners and using them during promo's. However if you just like cash I suppose Discover is pretty easy, plus their partner gift cards are a good value - I redeem my cash back for Enterprise rental gift cards @ something like 1.5c per penny.
I'm patiently waiting for Discover's 4th quarter online 5% bonus category. Last year I bought a new Macbook for something like $150 cheaper than the cheapest one available by using their ShopDiscover/Cashback/Tax-Free/Referral super awesome combo bomb lol
to me, shop discover is more polished than rewardsboost. But I can see rewardsboost got few stores missing from shop discover.
I do tons of online shopping, so I guess my barclaycards might be used more often.
