Barclays....

How the hell do I get past the customer care people and get to the retentions departament? I tried calling the Analyst office and asking them for APR reduction, they refuse to transffer me to retentions and insist that only customer care people can do this. The customer care people simply refuse to transfer me and tell me there is nothing available for my Barclays Sallie Mae card. I've had a $950 limit with them for over 1.5 years and my credit is very good.

How good are they with HP CLIs anyways? Will they give like a crappy $500 increase on my $950 line? I really do not want to waste a hard pull this way. Anyone have experiance?

Re: Barclays....

I ran into the same problem so I called the numbers listed below, they transferred me to retentions.

Barclays: 866-205-5973 (credit analyst 24 hours)

Barlcays: 866-408-4064 (credit analyst MAY have limited hours)

Re: Barclays....

More than likely it's gonna be a HP. If that is the case you may as well open a new card and get a bigger cl and move the cl around. That's what I did.

Re: Barclays....

When?

I called the 2nd number that you listed and they said they have no way to transffer me to retentions. Did retentions get you the APR/CLI?

That's exactly what I'm thinking as well.

Re: Barclays....

I didn't ask for retentions! I asked for an APR reduction and they transferred me to retentions. As far as an APR reduction or SP CLI, no such luck. I'll try again.

Ymmv but my 1st card was opened in 2011. Got a couple of auto increases til about a year ago, no love since. I requested a cli last week and it was a HP. Declined!! So 2 days ago I apped for the Hawaiian and Instant approved for $7k. My total exposure with Barclay now is $17k and my TU score is lower than yours. Good luck.

Re: Barclays....

My front-line CSR was able to instantly tell me I had an available APR reduction offer before transferring me to a specialist (who may or may not have been in retentions, I don't know).

Front-line CSRs are not necessarily completely in the dark on these matters, and can see any pre-existing offers.

Re: Barclays....

After multiple transfers, long hold times, other than closing my Arrival + account, I got nowhere. When I called a week or two ago I was transferred to retentions no problem, don't understand the hassle now. Sorry for not being much help.

Re: Barclays....

My frontline CSR processed my APR reduction and SP CLI on  the spot with no transfer.  Maybe I got a supervisor or analyst on first call or something?  I called monday morning.  I know that happens in the call center I work in sometimes the higher up people work overtime taking calls from the pleebs as normal reps.
