Becoming a joint acct person or an AU?

My fiance and I both bank through Chase and I wasn't able to get a cc at the time I opened the acct...he wants to add me as an AU so my score will go up with his purchases ( he has great credit ) but Chase said being an AU wont affect my score?  Also, they said it could be made a joint acct, but they will do an inquiry like before, so here's the thing...if I wasn't able to get a cc the first time then why would I get one now?  I always thought you just added the person and didn't have to go through the whole process of applying?

The rep was wrong, being auth on chase will show up on your credit.

Now since he already has the account, even if they did pull your credit to become joint, most likely it will be approved since he has the credit for the account... but i suggest just auth.
