@jsckz32 but doesn't spg earn 1 point per dollar only ???
Yes but the points are worth more. At least for me they are.

I think it's all subjective for me the best revolver is the Delta Amex this is down to the pay with miles feature on Delta.com
I fly a lot ( I'm platinum with delta so I get double miles) I just flew to brazil last week using the pay with miles feature I will get $200 off my next flight
I guess the best way to look at it is to find a card with rewards that you will use! The delta amex perks are useless to people who don't fly delta!
Typically the PWMs limits you to .01 / per miles of value from your miles... you should be able to get at least 1.25-1.75 if you redeem for upgrades or award tickets.

That's good if the spg points are valuable. It'd be awesome if you could earn double points on it somehow.
The fact that they are hard to earn is what keeps them valuable. As my high school economics teach loved to say, it's all about scarcity.

@navyox absolutely. There's also the 65 dollar annual fee to consider.
Which is lower than most rewards cards of any value, for ex.
CSP - $95
Delta - Gold $95, Platinum $150
Citi AA - $95
and the AMEX Charge cards start out at 95$
for the money the SPG card is going to most likely be the best value for the majority of the people out there.

I'm sorry. That went right over my head. Would you mind elaborating?
Yes, for example if you were to fly from TUL to EWR on 12/08/13 and return on 12/12/13 (just random dates and cities) the cost of the ticket would be $546 or 25k miles
so if you use the 25k miles for a credit with PWMs you would get $250 dollars off the cost of the ticket for a straight redemption value of .01
now if you were to book the award ticket you would pay only the $10 in taxes and get a value of 536 / 25000 = .0214 for your points.
so by booking the award ticket you would over double the value of your points, now i'm not saying this is always the case but If i can't get 1.5 - 2.0 cents per mile/points I'm paying cash and using my miles/points some other time as I might as well have just used my Quicksilver card and got the straight 1.5% CB
