Good point. It was not an application fee but an annual fee.

My credit one credit card states in the agreement that if you decide that you don't want it, you must call within 30 days of activating it and have not made any purchases on it.  However, I did have to call to activate it.  It did not arrive already activated.

Try saying
"I can not agree to the terms of this agreement"

HUH? Who ever said you had to USE a credit card to actually have it OPEN? Learn more about the credit industry before trying to give OP false hope.
