Best CC and/or merchant card to rebuild with.

I just got a First Premier unsecured with a $250 limit (I was shocked I got it).  I think I need one more, but would love to get a merchant card as well.  My TU score is 579 and Equifax is 584...any other options out there for me.

I wouldn't touch cap 1 with a ten foot pole. cap 1 and citi are the 2 worst imo.

Re: Best CC and/or merchant card to rebuild with.

CapOne will greatly depend upon which card you received at app.  For example, I have had CapOne 4 years.  CL is $1k.  Will not add rewards.  Will not combine it with my other CapOne account.  Will not increase the CL.  It is basically frozen in time.  Because of this, you never know what you may expect from CapOne....casino moves to $5.4k.

Re: Best CC and/or merchant card to rebuild with.

here's the skinny.  i had a card for 200 initially.  getting clis was like pulling teeth.  i think i got it up to 600 and it took years.  Then they sent me a new card with 3500 cl  then i combined them to 4100 with the oldest date.  then got some clis.  i used the back door #.  it is all good.

They are really conservative.  See if you qualify for another card and then combine like i did.

Re: Best CC and/or merchant card to rebuild with.

I have another CapOne....the Reward Miles Ultra/Professional with $3k.  But they won't combine because my newer account is a "specialty account" and cannot be combined with my vanilla account.  Original account has no rewards and $19 AF.  The APR is only 10.24 and they give me no fee BT all the time with either same as purchase APR or reduced APR.  But they won't change, upgrade, merge, increase or do anything with the account.  It seems my original is what it is and never to be more.

I would go easy on the store cards. 1 would be enough. Maybe Walmart. They're all over the place. I would go for Orchard and Capital One. You will not get a card from Juniper.

Ben -

Go to a credit union and begin building a real financial and credit relationship.  The CC you listed, while it is good to the credit ego to get an approval, will soon wear out its welcome in your CR lineup.
