Get the Quicksilver One. In three months, that will be at least 3k and you will be pre-approved for Venture! That's my guarantee!

I got denied Cap1 Venture but qualify for Platinum or quiksilver.

I have a Chase checking and I tried to screen for pre-approvals there and didn't get any. I'm not sure which of their cards I should apply.

My husband has discover and likes it but Discover isn't as widely accepted

Go to your local Chase branch and ask them to help you apply for the Chase Freedom card. With an existing checking relationship, it may result in a decent CL and at least should get you the card. As noted by others, Chase has a new requirement, you cannot have more than 5 new cards in the last 24 months in order to get Freedom, Slate, or CSP, so getting a Freedom card now gets you a rewards card that has some good usage, before you start adding a bunch of other cards.

A Capital One Quicksilver is also a good choice.

Great suggestions guys. Also look into a CU. Are you or your husband in any way possible eligible for NFCU? If not, look into Penfed and a local CU.

+1 I just had my brother to join NFCU yesterday. His only major card was a 3 month old BofA card with a $1500 limit. NFCU instantly approved him for a $15,000 go rewards card.
