Re: Best cards for this score range...

does he have any cards right now? also the "best" cards will be different for different people since some people want cash back and others want miles and other will want benefits for having the cards like amex platinum with airport benefits and rental car benefits.

Re: Best cards for this score range...

Fixed the mistake in the post.

He has said he wants rewards if possible, he doesn't travel much so no need for anything like that.

He has:

Walmart: $3400

Credit union: $2000

Util is less than 10%

Re: Best cards for this score range...

personally id recommend trying the preapproval sites. and try to get pre approved for chase freedom, discover IT, or maybe a capital one card with rewards. with no inq's, overall pretty good credit scores and paid collections being 5 years old, i think he would be able to get approved for those cards fairly easy. if he doesnt get preapproved on their sites then i would try cardmatch and try for amex BCE or BCP. all of those cards i feel would give him atleast a 1k limit. there may be some cards im missing that other people can recommend too

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Those are the exact ones I said ! LOL too funny.

He got approved for:

Freedom: 6500

Discover: 7000 - had to call and verify some info?

Walmart Increase - 10000

Barclay - 4000

I was a little shocked with the results myself but happy to have helped him! He said he is going to garden for a long time Smiley Happy
