Best cards to start with?

Hi all,. so i've recently been paying off old debts and I only have one thing left to pay off. At the moment my score is 558, started rebuilding at 524. My question is which cards are the best to start with?

Probably check the prequals at Cap One.

Re: Best cards to start with?

Averagejoe is right try capone prequals. You might have to get a secured card. If you want to do it right double check every step on here before applying for anything. I like that you started with asking shows your serious about rebuilding.

Thanks for the quick replies guys, i'm 100% fine with a secured card, and actually that's what I meant. I checked capital one and i'm prequalified so i'll start there. Thanks very much!

Re: Best cards to start with?

No worries and good luck. Ive always said finding this forum is like finding free gold. If you want to rebuild right and not waste endless hps for apps not needed, this is the place to teach you well. If i could go back and stick with the mantra , 3 cards are all you really need to maximize your score, i definetely would have taken more time. My advice going forward, look for things that fit your lifestyle and spend. Right now you sre looking to build so you need ctedit to do so . But hoing forward look for things that will grow for you and you wont get stuck with useless cardsSmiley Wink

Re: Best cards to start with?

I got a cap one card with a credit score of 555 about 8 month ago (my first card) it started with 300$ limit and was a platinum card after 4 month I hit the luv button and got a 100$ increase and a month after that I called for an update and they gave me the quicksilver card and after the 5th payment I got a another 350$ cli and now I'm sitting at 750$ credit limit, so not bad for 6 month of using my card every day

Just a little update, I got a cap one secured and a discovered secured. I also am gonna try the sct with overstock. Will these be enough to start?

That sounds like plenty to start with.  Garden those for a while and you'll be able to move up to unsecured cards with higher limits and rewards.

Yeah...Discover secured is probably the best card you'll be able to get for a while.

Best in that it can unsecure, the CL can grow nicely with time, it has rewards, and comes with competent customer service.
