Best no AF Capital One card

I'm about to email Capital One Executive office about a CLI and a PC. I currently have 2 Capital One cards, one with $1250 CL and the other with $1000. I'd like to keep the older one with 7% APR and close the other one. I'd like to get a CLI to atleast $5000-$6000 and PC to another type of account.

For this account I think I will be using it lightly. Right now I'm thinking of PCing to the VentureOne card(Gold one) or maybe the Cash rewards. Any other suggestion on which Capital One card would be the best for me?

Re: Best no AF Capital One card.

The XO will not PC your card. The most they can do is waive the AF, Cli and add rewards to your account.

With your scores and other cards I'd be looking for ways to get away from C1.  Your sig has util at 6.9%.  Killing those C1 cards would bump you to 7.8%.  Nothing to worry about.

Between the VentureOne and the Cash Rewards, I highly recommend the Cash Rewards! 1% cash back with a 50% bonus at the end of the year makes it like a 1.5% cash back card! VentureOne, which is 1.25% on everything, can't beat the Cash Rewards since you HAVE to redeem your points as statement credits towards travel.

The main reason I want tot keep my Capital One cards is to help with utilization. Their total CL is $2250 right now. If I can get them to $5000 total CL or more, it'll benefit me.

I don't see a reason to close a positive tradeline at 7%.

Do you have any credit cards with rates at or below 6.9%? Unless you can make a better suggestion for the OP I would advise against recommending that any poster close a card at such a low rate, regardless of issuer. That card may really come in handy for emergencies someday.

Good luck with your PC request!

Re: Best no AF Capital One card

I agree. I say go for the Cash Rewards card! Mines has a $2500 limit. I have earned almost $100 cash back since July and given the rate I'm going, I should get at least $75 cash back as a 50% bonus this July which would bring my total cash back in a year to $225!

Re: Best no AF Capital One card

Why do so many people not seem to understand, adding rewards is a PC....

If you add cash rewards, you've been PCd to the green cash card... If you add travel rewards, you've been PCd to one of the venture cards.

I would go for cash rewards. Even if you travel a lot, 1.5 > 1.25

FWIW, my recent conversion from Platinum to Venture WAS a full-blown PC. I received a new card with the Venture design along with welcome materials for the Venture card. I don't know why some folks say that Cap1 won't do a PC, as it's obvious to me that they can do so if they choose to.

Re: Best no AF Capital One card

Same thing happened with mine tinu. Got the green card, and a whole paper "congratulating" me on my upgrade to the cash rewards card.

If only they would give me a wmc now. That is all I want from them. :smileytongue:
