I'm very happy with my work done so far in my journey back to the good graces of credit. I'm hoping it hasn't stopped quite yet.
I'm helping my dad rebuild and explaining the fine rules of credit. He just hit 3 years from BK...applied for Capital One and got $2,000 Green Cash Back credit..not sure what credit steps will bring as his first statement has not cut yet..that is his first tradeline post BK. He did carry the car through it and paid it off on time..his FICO is actually very high for post BK as he is at 687 EQ and 663 TU but I think that is because he filed BK because he has seen the light and knew he won't be able to continue payments on lot of debt..he did not miss any payments prior to BK and everything was paid on time...never missed payments, no charge offs, nothing...had 5K limits with Chase, Dell, Citibank...just talked to a lawyer and was talked into BK..he also lost his job so that was one of the primary reasons. He also never burned CAP1...I noticed on his credit had them for over 10 years and paid them off and closed them 2 years prior to BK...he did burn 3 Chase accounts so I wonder if he could ever get a chase card again. Anyway..he did get a nice limit as a starting card...he got green cash average though so there is a 39 AF...I explained to him to use it wisely and explained finer points of using it as a primary card..but not too put on more than he can spend cash...as thats what got him in debt in the first place...if he pays for 12 months then we can try other prime cards like Discover, Amex Zync and Barclay...
