I recently applied for a Bloomingdales store card....thought it would be cool to have when I go to New York in October. I got a letter in the mail today that it was denied for the following reasons:
1.) too many credit checks
2.) too many inquiries
The first reason is what threw me off. Is "too many credit checks" not the same as "too many inquiries"? Now, I did notice when I pull my reports, the pulls do show up under soft pulls....which means nobody sees this but me, right? So what could they possibly be talking about?
Should I send a recon letter or just let it be???? Thanks!

I think they automatically give you 2 reasons. Since the only reason is inquiries they listed it twice. They are both the same thing in my opinion. Why they are worded different no idea? Personally it would annoy me and I would call them to find out exactly what it meant.

May I ask how many inquiries you have?

Re: Bloomingdales DENIAL REASON???

Last night, Bloomingdales instantly denied me for:

  • Slow to pay - Capital One CO from 2005, that I paid (when I didn't know any better, smh)
  • Nonpayment - AFNI; CA hired by AT&T Mobility (for a phone that I never hadcurrently being investigated)

The supervisor I spoke with informed that the 'nonpayment' account was the real 'killer'. Now correct me if I'm wrong, I was under the impression that items were NOT calculated while under investigation, can anyone chime in on this matter?

Macy's $25,000 | Bloomingdales AMEX $25,000 | Care Credit $15,000 | Amazon Prime $8,300 | Target Red MasterCard $4,000 | Bergdorf Goodman $3,500 | Williams Sonoma $3,070 | Forever 21 $2,800 | Ann Taylor/ Loft $2,650 | J.Crew $2,550 | Children's Place $2,250 | VERVE $1,400 | First Savings $1,100 | Citi Rewards+ $700 | Gap $600 | Chase Freedom Unlimited $600
