BoA Secured card question

I have two questions about this product. The first is, does anyone know the actual score needed? Better yest, if you have one already, what score did you have when you were approved?

The second question is, is it better to apply for an unsecured card first? What I mean is, if you are not approved, will they counter with the secured option? I really want the 99/500, but I will gladly take the secured card as well.

Last July I applied for the reg plat plus visa.  I was denied and they countered with the 99/500.  At the time my scores were mid 600s

What report did they pull? Was it EXP? What were your baddies?

I too app'd for and received the 99/500. I first app'd for the fully secured around 8/2007 and EX was pulled with a FICO of about 550-575 or thereabouts and was denied. On 11/2007, I appd again, but for an unsecured CC and was denied with an EX FICO of about 650 or so, but was immediately offered the 99/500, which I took. I had 2 CAs (one was poking at 7 yrs old and another at 4 yrs old). My util was about 25%. I also had 2 COs if I recall, one was about 7 yrs old and the other was 4 yrs old. ETA...also had a redeemed, paid repo w/ many lates.

Yes they pulled exp which has no baddies now.  I dont think it did then either but I cant remember.

Has anyone been approved for their secured card but had an unpaid collection account with a one of their legacy companies (ie:  MBNA)?

I did in 2002..I settled the account and I got my BOA secured card in October...hope to have it unsecured next month.

What were your scores when approved?

I believe they were in the 570 range. Now in the 660's

what is "99/500" ?
