I've had my BofA Cash Rewards since 2011.
This was one of my second credit card; first being AMEX Green. The limit started at $2500. I used it heavily and even maxed it out (way before I understood credit and utilization).
I paid it off after the intro 0% period and asked for a $2500 increase around November of last year. Instantly approved
Last night, I requested $15000. I received the 7-10 message so I figured decline.
I just signed in and my new limit is $7500. I barely use this card and recently it just gets random $20 purchases here and there. Mostly my go to gas card when the Discover 5% ends.
Should I be content with the $7500 limit or see if I can get it higher (closer to $15000)? My income is 33,000. Is that why the limit was countered so low.
Either way I'm happy bc the hard inquiry has already reported and I didn't want to get NO increase.
Current utilization before increase across all cards was 4% and 0 balance on the card, too.
Considering income factors, lack of much usage and their review for the $7,500, I would be content. Of course, if your spending habits change and your income increases significantly to warrant a higher CLI, then sure... go for it.
