Because with a mortgage they have collateral. With a credit card, if one doesn't pay, they have nothing.
I've had BOA accounts for years and always got turned down for a credit card from them until yesterday. They finally gave me one but I had to wait until every single negative thing was off my report (yes, that took a while ).
Thats what I did I used my rebuilder HSBC Card until my last baddie fell off and as soon as it did my credit scores jumped and I was able to get 4 nice prime cards and my score has leveled off for now in the 730's until I get some age on the new cards.
