I was told as for february 2015, we are not allowed to hav our secured card to be converted to balance reward.. Their excuse is there was too many people doing it.
Were you told this by a CSR or someone in the UW department? If this is true, I'm getting rid of my mine immediately.
I've read on these boards that graduation of the BOA secured is de rigeur, often before the 12th-statement mark, and that people have gone on to bigger CL on the card.
Thanks.
@slicemans, they changed the rules and they can't PC any card to BBR anymore. If you want the BBR you will need to apply for it.
@seaurchinroe, the secured card still graduates to unsecured, with or without Cash Rewards (you can have secured cash rewards). They auto-unsecure at 9-12 months. Sometimes they also give you a CLI. The AF in the other hand sometimes is hard to get rid of it. I had to contact them 4-5 times until they said they will remove it.

Who did you contact about removing the fee?

Not sure about secured cards but in the past, people would apply for the Cash Rewards with the $100 bonus, get the bonus and then PC to BBR. BoA got tired of people doing that so they stopped all PCs (which is unfair to those like my fiance who has the lame Platinum Plus with NO rewards at all...he's had that card for many many years too...good thing Sallie Mae and Quicksilver get all his swipes nowadays ).

I tried secure message, chat, regular phone (back of card), the I look at the backdoor numbers thread and called an analyst (was able to lower the APR 4% but not remove AF), then senior analyst and she said no problem. Good luck

I just asked a week ago for a PC from my unsecured Cash Rewards card to Travel Rewards card, they say my account qualify for that and the process will take 2-4 weeks.
I have my BOA secured card for 8 years and never graduated still 500 limit, i am closing this account this week, i already book a appoitment wit the Credit specialist BOA showing no appreciation anymore
