Hey guys! My father has finally decided to get a CC to help build up some history. His only history is my car loan he co-signed on in April of '13 (all on-time payments/clean report). That's literally his only history, when we applied for the car loan he had no score or report cause the agencies couldn't find anything. He's just always been a cash kinda guy, and his house came from his parents/etc, so no mortgage.
Any reccomendations on cards he may be eligible for? I know he personally seems to like Discover, only because that's what the friends and fam keep reccomending. I'm just not sure they'd approve him with little to no history. I also know he banks with Wells Fargo, but he didn't seem too thrilled when I mentioned them. I'd assume Capital One would approve him since that's who the car loan is, and he has a good (although somewhat short) history with payments (even though I make them/etc). Any help would be great!
Capital One might wwork, you could have him try the pre approval site
If he really doesn't have a report or score, you might try the secured CC route.
SDFCU Visa secured requires no credit check or income verification.
Check pre-approval sites. Here's a couple I have saved:
Citi: https://www.accountonline.com/cards/acq/preQualUserInfo.do?screenID=3204
Barclays: https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/ProactivePrescreenLanding.action
Your best bet will probably be going with a secured Capital One card. Put a $50 deposit down and get a $200 limit.
