What troubles me with CITI was the CL and the APR they approved for me. My EQ score was 756, very low util on all revolving accounts and credit limits on other CCs of 17.5K (now 20), 15K, 19.3K and 10K. They gave me a CL of 3.6K with an APR over 13%.

fused, they know that your heart really lies with Amex, and you're just flirting with them! Smiley Happy

I'm thinking they're an all or nothing kind of company.

Re: CITI Automatic CLI?

And it looks like citi would like you to do that with them instead.

Now see, if you had a whopping $750 CL with them like I do, you could make them happy with only two parties! Smiley Very Happy

Re: CITI Automatic CLI?

I have been reading the forums for a while now.  Just never posted.  I am recovering from a bk in 2002.  My scores are mid 600's but I want to be over 700.  Yeah citi likes PIF. And as far as the 13% rate, well that is really about avg for them even with great credit.  If you are carrying a balance on the acct, and are paying that kind of rate you can always call customer service and tell them you are thinking of transferring your balance elsewhere unless they can lower it.  A knowlegeable rep will check the acct for balance retention offers and then transfer you to an acct specialist if you qualify, it wont be 0% but is usally a significant decrease for 9 billing cycles.  I probably shouldnt be posting all of this but next friday is my last day anyway!

Oh, yeah, you can't just drop a little bomb like that and not elaborate!

Re: CITI Automatic CLI?

Thanks!  Yeah I cant handle pushing products down peoples throats that they have no interest in.  To  keep pushing until someone hangs up on you just seems like bad customer service to me.  I do okay, but I just dont want to.  Citi really is a good company to work for, but its just not the job for me.  Yeah I have learned a lot of things about the credit industry since i started working for them.  I always thought like most people do, that they make more money off people who revolve a balance, but that is not true.  They have some kind of statistic thats is like 20% of cardmembers (the best of the best) make 80% of their profit.  CRAZY!

I can well believe that.

Sorry, I was a bit tactless up there, but good for you for figuring out that you're not in the right spot yet. I tried real estate for a while, because I thought I loved it, but I was terrible. Whenever any of my customers got cold feet, I was right there, holding their hands, sympathizing with them. I didn't realize that at that point, they need a good hard shove to keep them moving!

meanwhile, poor fused, thought he had landed an insider at Citi... Smiley Very Happy

Re: CITI Automatic CLI?

I have a link on my online Citi cc statement that says "request credit line increase".  Is it customary for Citi to have that, given that they typically increase CL on their own initiative?

Providian as well as Cap 1 cards I got don't have a "request line increase" link on my online statement.  And as far as I know, they are also typically initiating increases on their own.

Re: CITI Automatic CLI?

I hardly have any kind of special powers there anyway!  Just a lowly CSR......  But I could RAISE someones interest rate if i wanted to Smiley Wink  Don't make me mad!!  Kidding of course.  Your best bet if you want something is to get a knowlegable rep, if you get the impression they are dumb in the first few seconds of the call, they probably are.  So hang up and call back, the right rep will either be able to help you or get you to someone who can.. Of course within reason, and if you are a good customer.  Ya know, pay your bills on time and stuff......
