CITI bank is amazing! However also strange...

So today alone citi raised my zales limit from 6k to 12k! My home depot card from 1k to 5500!, and my tire kingdom card from 700 bucks to 3k! WOW! Strangely though when I applied for a citi platinum credit card, I was entirely denied. No sense to me?

I would try reconning with them. You went through an automated system which isn't perfect. Try this number 800-763-9795

Capital One Quicksilver MC $3000 6/2011 | Chase Amazon Visa $1400 8/2012 | Citi Diamond Preferred MC $4200 7/2013 | AMEX Green NPSL 8/2013 | Chase Freedom $1000 Visa 8/2013 | AMEX BCE $7000 2/2014 ==> 2/2013

I tried earlier by calling them back and asking a csr if I could recon, she transfered me somewhere to someone who told me i had too many recent inquiries and too many accounts opened in the past year. So weird that today they gave me so much in increases yet cant give me a real citi card. lame.

Citi's private label/retail card portfolios work much different than its parent entity when it comes to their standard CCs.  You can get all the CLI love on any of your retail branded cards and still not be approved for any other mainline Citi products.  Just different elegibility criteria as the retail/private label portfolios are managed separately.
