CLD from AMEX but just sent pre-approval for gold card

Are you serious, you just CLD me from 3k to $500 but you send me a pre-approval by mail and also a pre-approval when i sign in into my account for a gold card. You have got to be kidding me lol

Something similar with AMEX happened to me too - I received a pre-approval for the Platinum card, but I applied for the Gold and was denied.  Then I received a reminder about how I should apply with my pre-approval for the Platinum card.  Go figure...
