CLI and AU?

I know that if you are listed as an AU on another user's card, lenders will take that out of the equation when apping for a new card.

Do they also do this when requesting a CLI?

Just wondering as I may be able to get added as an AU on a family member's card (10k+ limit, open around 9 yrs) which would be a HUGE help, as I'd gotten declined for a CLI before due to insufficient credit history in the past.
