As the title says, do bars, fast food places, and coffee shops code as restaurants / qualify for 2x points for dining on the Chase Sapphire Preferred? Thanks.

IME most bars do. It really all depends what their merchant code is.
IME, 99.9% of bars code as dining (wether it's a run-down dive bar or fancy club). I've had the CSP for a over 2 years now.

Same experience here. I've got breweries near me that code as restaurants when buying carry-out. Makes me feel a little bit better when I walk out with ~$200 in beer.
