No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I have read on this forum people with no jobs with $10k CC and sometimes more and are still applying for more! I basically have everything I need in life at this point, only reason I would charge any card is for an emergency, that's what CCs are for right? I guess I will just take the advice and stay with no application for the time being
I agree with everyone about getting a job and forgetting about CC's for a while. Trust us, once you do, you'll be much more happy with your approvals and credit limits.
With that said, I received my first two cards when I was in undergrad without a job and currently quit one part-time job in December so I could take more courses in law school. So it's not IMPOSSIBLE.
I continue to get CC's (I have 11 accounts open at the minute, I think--I churn, some are sock-drawered, etc. etc.); however, I am able to put legit income and additional income accurately. For example, how do you pay your bills? Grants? Help from other's?
IE I get grants from my school. They also provide me additional income/month because I travel for them for various events. And most importantly, I am able to put the constant money that my parents send every month. It's nothing exciting, but I've never been denied because it's somewhat of an adequate income for their purpose and I have a clean history.

Not the only thing....
Purchase protection, rewards (points/miles/cash back), ability to not carry cash, etc etc. I'm sure there are more! I use nothing but a CC. If something requires a check, they're getting a Bluebird check!

I am not so different from you in terms of earnings. No job but I have a business in my original country of origin. Doesn't bring in a lot but it brings in as much as I quote on my apps and also I have family members who will send money at my request but I never do. Ju
I have one Judgement on My report which is from 2011... It was a school I went to on a scholarship that an Organization agreed to pay but they didn't pay it and the school decided I was the one liable for it. I intend to just wait it out until it drops off my report.
but overall my score is between 650-685

jen_bar, I never knew about all the benefits of CCs until recently. Dont blame me
I earned about $150 in bonus from my cards the past year and I don't even charge a lot on these cards. I plan to use my CC instead of a debit card this year. I need more rewards!
No worries! Here to help! I, like many, are very afraid of debt, so I use my CC's like a debit card. I pay them off weekly to chill my nerves.

OP, you never stated an objective. When I first read the thread, I thought you might be after one of the following:
1. Keeping credit intact while income is down.
2. Surviving on credit for as long as possible.
Later, it was clear that you want more credit (despite questioning its value).
But I'm still not sure if you see yourself as an entrepreneur or a job-seeker.
Tell us what you're trying to do, and we can be a lot more helpful.
I agree. I don't necessarily understand the purpose of the thread.
That being said, here is my unemployment story: I once had three CC balances on credit cards while unemployed. I'd pay the minimum on them though but they were all closed (I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to use them). However, during that time I was focusing more on finding a job than increasing my CL or getting more credit cards. OP, Good for you though for only having a balance of $200 but indeed what are you trying to do?
