I wouldn't apply for the Freedom until I've met spend and paid in full what you have now. Once you fulfill that obligation then reward yourself with the Freedom. As others have stated, Discover is very similar but they also have their advantages like the price protection from you get from Discover and being able to transfer points to the CSP from the Freedom. Also, when the holidays roll around you have twice the earning potential for cashback depending on what you plan to spend. All in all, be very observant of what you plan to buy and the benefits down the line each card gives you for that particular purchase.
