For the last several months I've been using only gift cards at Target. If you have a Redcard, you still get free shipping etc, even though you don't use the card to pay.
Target are among the best cards to buy this way because of the app. For the first time last week, I got a bad one, and when I entered the number into the app, it said invalid. I was able to immediately contact the seller (giftcardzen) and got the charge refunded the next day. With many other cards, you only discover there is a problem when you try to use it at the store.
