Yes, it was nerfed, as I mentioned above (student is now just 1%), but they do have the option, apparently, of giving you the 5% rewards.  I expect this will get rarer quickly!

Re: Can't Get Cash+ or Forward... next best dining card?

I use the Forward for movies and restaurants.  It'll be a sad day when it's nerfed for existing users.  I get even more value out of if now that I've paired it with the Citi TYP.  Due to that additional value, I'm keeping the TYP even when the promo is up.

Speaking of the Citi Thank You preferred, it's not a terrible option if you use it for the entertainment category as well. I plan to use for football tickets, concert tickets, and other events in that genre.

Gas: Discover It, Penfed Platinum Rewards x2, Chase freedom, Citi TYP
Plane tickets: CSP
Groceries: AMEX BCP, Penfed Platinum Rewards,Citi TYP
Clothes: Express, Amex BCP, Discover IT
Amazon: Citi Forward, Cash +
Restaurants: Citi Forward, Chase Freedom, Discover IT, CSP
Hotels and other travel: Discover Escape, CSP
Movies: BofA travel rewards visa signature(fandango), Discover IT, Citi Forward, Freedom
Bars, clubs, tomfoolery: CSP, Citi Forward, Discover IT, Freedom
Balance transfers: Kroger 123 rewards
Bill Pay: Chase Ink Plus, Citi Forward,
Everyday spending: Bofa Accelerated cash rewards amex, Discover Escape

Chase AARP Visa had 3% gas, 3% restaurants, 1% everything else. Available through AARP website.

Also, Lowes Business Rewards is 3%, and Huntington Voice can select 3% as its one 3% category (if you have a huntington bank nearby).

Keep trying for a US Bank Cash+

TU-9 Bankcard: 837 EQ-9: 823 EX-9 Bankcard: 837

Depends on the need for uncapped.  HV is capped, is Business Rewards.  Note that enharu's "over $500" back in one month equates to over $10K spending on 5% categories per month, so uncapped is needed for some!

To become a member of AARP you must be 50 years old. Further, access to the Chase AARP Card is suppose to be with AARP Membership. Now that said, this board has posters who are good at finding exceptions to the rules.
