2 and 1/2 years upgraded to Discover this summer. I have 1 paid state tax lien left on my report comes off 11/ 2016.
4.5 months but I just check and it shows 5 statements. I have decided I am just going to switch my spending to one of my other cards for a month or so and see if they change their minds about giving me a CLI in the near future.
I would carry balances when statement cut. Remember they don't count statments with no balance. So chances are the 4 statement rule doesn't count if some had no balance.

Not true. I got all my cli without ever carrying a balance. People have to understand that because one person got a cli a certain way dont mean it will also work with them.
To OP i say just wait until walmart decides they wanna play with you. Credit building requires a lot patience so dont close the card just because you are not getting what you want

You're right, I am going to keep it open and just not use it for a bit, other than maybe 5 dollars a month for something small.
It is just irritating. I do hope they will give me a CLI before Xmas though, would be a great help!
My philosophy runs against the grain of the forum. I started 3 years ago this month with a $300 Cap1 card. I would carry balances on different cards to show usage. I figured if you don't show usage why would a credit card company tie up their money on you. It seemed to work for me I'm disabled and have a $25k net income with $40.2k limits on my credit cards. I'm not saying carrying a lot on a card. Just pay a little interest and consider it an investment. YMMV

Well thats great that works for you. I started on 06/12 with 4 cards and a total of 9k in CL and since then i have only carry 1 balance on a single card and look at my profile. For me carrying a balance is like the devil lol. And banks know you use their cards even if you dont let balance report.
GE can be a bit odd on the Walmart card. They have given me auto increases, but never approved me via luv button.
Jsickz32 calling someone wrong isn't always true it all depends on an individual credit report. Thats why YMMV (your milage may very) If credit was set in stone it would be easy what works for one doesn't mean it works for all.

I didnt say you was wrong. Sorry if you took that way. Im just saying when it comes to credit, the same strategy dont work for everyone.
