Re: Can we have "OFFICIAL NFCU CLI - HOW IT WORKS!"

How long had you had your accounts before those limit increase?

Re: Can we have "OFFICIAL NFCU CLI - HOW IT WORKS!"

Thanks, when approved last year my lowest score was 661 and highest was 706. Life threw a curve ball and a year later  I find myself cleaning up after the storm. I'm budgeting 2K a month towards these cards now until I dip below 10% utilization. Just wanted to find out if increasing would be wise for now. Thanks for the advice!

I believe I had the accounts for 4 months before I requested an increase.

I understand that... it's been a long road back from my storm and if you stayed current and are just maxed out it will be a much faster prcoess and give yourself a big pat on the back for finding the $2k a month and dedicating it towards Navy debts... I'd say you could safely ask for a CLI when you get them down by 50% each but do check on interest rate reduction now!

So I need some advice.

I have two credit cards from NFCU that are now at 100% utilization. Both have credit limits of 15K. I was given credit increases last December on both that took them from 10-K to 15K.

right now I'm really trying to pay these cards down and get my credit back on track. I want to know would it be worth it to request an increase on both to lessen my total utilization while I'm trying to pay them down? My ficus are 596 eq 611tu and 589ex. Any advice?

CA had some great advice on working with Navy to get your interest rate for the interim, sorry about the 'curve ball' but hang in there and stick to your plan of getting the balances down. Good Luck!

Re: Can we have "OFFICIAL NFCU CLI - HOW IT WORKS!"

I was thinking about apping for a HELOC with NFCU, but I'm not sure if I should now since they wouldn't even give me a bump on the credit cards. Has anyone done a HELOC with NFCU?

I got turned down for a recon on increasing my 2nd new CL Smiley Sad stuck with $5k on that one. Hoping in 3 months I can get some luv button luck and get a bump close to the $20k on my Flagship

Their message back to me said:

"Thank you for your message. We have received the documents requested for the reconsideration of the credit limit of your goRewards Visa account. After a second review, our decision stands. The credit limit of your goRewards account will remain $5,000.00. Our decision was based on the information provided to us by the credit bureau Trans Union, in addition to the credit limit your existing Signature Flagship Rewards Visa account."

I assume this is a final answer, right? No further recon, just have to wait out the 90 days, huh? Smiley Sad Really wasn't expecting that response from them.

Re: Can we have "OFFICIAL NFCU CLI - HOW IT WORKS!"

Glad to see so many success stories here, but I have a question. I currently have a 630 on my EQ fico and unfortunately due to some set backs, my Navy nRewards is currently at 91% and my NavChek is somewhere around 39%. I just paid off a credit card with another CU that also had a high UTI of like 50% down to 0%. So my question is that if I do get a nice boost in my fico, say at least a good 5 points and hopefully something like 10, should I try to hit the luv button on either 1 of those accounts, or should I wait until I get them into a more manageable/respectable levels before I try to hit the luv button? I just wanted a more experienced/professional opinion, so I leave my decision to the board.

What's the rest of your credit look like? I would say you need to wait if you have 90% util. What's the current CL?

First of all, thanks for responding. I was waiting for the typical email I get when someone responds and since I never saw it, I never even knew someone replied. Anyway, here is my current snapshot of what I have based on the last statement:

Credit CardBalanceLimitUtilizationAvailable

Credit One Bank05000.00%500
Barclays976.39 (1291.07)150065.09%523.61
nRewards (NFCU)1457.72 (1813.85)200072.89%542.28

Total4590.011080042.50%6209.99

Some of the actual balances are a little higher, I put them in parenthesis, but I can pay more on them before the statement date. I didn't factor them in since the statement isn't due yet, but if they were factored in, the new UTI would be almost 56%. So those are my hard numbers, what do you think?
