The Macy's and Bloomingdale's cards are issued by DSNB. DSNB administers the accounts. The accounts are owned by Citi. They are not interchangable.

What was presented to you at the store was a Bloomingdales Visa. A visa card can be used anywhere. Bloomingdales store cards can only be used at Bloomingdales. Until Bloomingdales buy's Macy's it will always be that way.
