So I've had a steps rebuilder card with cap one for 2 years now. We all know the story no rewards, no cli, no PC.
My ann fee hit so I called in and told the rep I was going to cancel. Offered to check to see if they could upgrade me to a prime card and said he would need a current copy of my credit report. I said ok and provided my info. Rep stated they were closing my Platinum steps card and opening me a new Capital One Cash Rewards Prime card with no annual fee and a $5,000.00 limit. 0% Int. through 4/2014 then 20.9% after that. $100 cashback bonus if I spend $500 in the first 3 months.
Asked if this would report as my old tradeline and he informed me it would show as a new account and I will have a new card number. That part stinks, but at least I replaced a $1500 limit with no rewards and a $39 ann fee with a $5000 limit, 1.5% cash back, and $0 ann fee.

Thanks everyone for the compliment. I never expected them to do an "Excellent" credit card for me. It states no BK on the website, but I had one discharged 4 years ago (that included Cap 1). I am happy with the approval. Discover still doesn't like me and AMEX is out until the BK falls off the report.
I would like to get a 5% card (like IT / Freedom / Dividend) but Discover doen't like me, I have a newer (under12 mo) Chase Slate, and I don't think Citi is very BK friendly either.
