Be careful about getting your credit limit too high. Unless your monthly spend supports a high credit limit, Capital One seems to have lately been taking a look at high limit cards and reducing the limits.
It's all anecdotal of course, but the magic number seems to be about $25,000.
Good to know! Something that Cap1 lists on the account combination page --
My origional thought when I first heard about the combination option was to have one card with a $50K limit. I'm not planning to do that now but I still think about it. I'd hate to get a high limit then lose a lot of it so I won't get carried away.
Change it to a QuickSilver with no AF. Then worry about combining later.
DON'T WORK FOR CREDIT CARDS ... MAKE CREDIT CARDS WORK FOR YOU!
So obvious but I never though of changing it to a QS. I have about 55,000 points on the Venture so I need to use them for a trip or take the cash option before I do anything with it.

No you don't...if you convert to QS, the points convert to the cash equivalent. I converted my V1 to QS, so I can confirm from experience.

I'm looking at my account now. Total points is 52,972. That can be converted $264.86 through the Venture card. Would I get the full points total if I converted it to a QS or would it be the dollar total that I would have received?
Also, if I do that, would that mean the card wouldn't be eligible for an account combination for 6 months?
I'm researching the high limit AA/CLD thing so I might not combine anymore.

The 52,972 points on Venture would become $529.72 when you PC to the QS. As for the effects of a PC on combination, I'm not sure about that. I waited one year to combine my QS into my older QS from the time it opened, but I was carrying a balance.
