Next month I'm due for a credit steps increase with my Cap One card. Just learned today that Equifax placed a fraud alert on my report because of a dispute I made (I didn't ask them to do that.)
Will this stop me from receiving the CLI under credit steps? Not sure if Cap One checks your reports as part of that process.
It doesn't usually affect credit steps since that's a program from cap one based off the product you were approved for. It's an auto CLI if you meet the terms. What I would be more wary of and focus on is removing that fraud alert. That happened to me a few years ago after an EQ dispute (I think they do this when you say an accoun isn't yours or you have no knowledge as the dispute reason), get it removed, you can write to have it removed, they may even still offer to remove it online.
