Cap One MC QS prime?

I was wondering if the Cap One MC QS is truly considered a prime card? It starts it's life as either QS1 or a Platinum card where as the QS Visa starts it life as a prime card. How do other ccc view the Cap One MC QS? I am wondering if for the final steps of rebuilding it makes sense to plan to app for the QS Visa or Venture card and combine the MC QS into it?

Re: Cap One MC QS prime?

other CCC have no idea the difference if you have a platinum or a venture but in terms of prime the visa is still above it technically and it grows faster. really no need to apply for another one if you already have the QS no AF version

Re: Cap One MC QS prime?

Thanks. We are thinking of combining a couple of my wife's Cap One accounts down to one.

I have a QS Visa Signature and a QS MasterCard.  The MasterCard started off as a QS1 (and was HSBC/Orchard Bank before that).

While their rewards are identical and they are now both 'Quicksilver', I get different balance tranfer offers on each of them.  The Visa seems to have a 'standing' promotion for 0% for 12 months with a 3% fee, while the MasterCard only has a no-fee offer but at the usual APR from the very first day (which is also an option on the Visa).

I've been putting very little on each of them the last few months... back in December I got a CLI of $1k on each (actually, quite generous considering how little I had used them).  My first CLI on the Visa was $2k, but at that time I was using it heavily.  The largest CLI I've ever received on the MasterCard was $1k.

If you're planning to consolidate accounts you might want to take a 'peek' at the BT offers... that might help you make your decision.  Smiley Wink
