Cap one platinum

A friend got the cap one platinum card with a $300 limit. Has anyone built up to a decent limit with starting out that low or did you have to apply for their other cards to get it? His scores are low 700s so surprised they didn't give him more

If it's in credit steps I believe the increases are $500 each.  The best bet is to PC the card as soon as possible.  Maybe after 6 months.

With his scores if his profile is clean and has low util I'd have him apply for Discover.  It can grow significantly faster.

My sister started $300 platinum and $500 quicksilver.. It was on credit steps and after the 5th statement, they increased to $4000 each .... She pays in full each month

Capital one has been pretty good to me. They bailed me out on a $25 dinner bill when my amex was declined due to not being told I was under financial review. I found out by getting declined and at the time I had no balance on the card, no negatives in the reports etc

Forgot to mention, he plans to use it pay in full and then try to get an increase after a while

Not sure why the low limit, but the card will or should grow for him.
