So back in June i applied for the Cap1 Green cash rewards card, and was denied due to having the max allowed Cap1 cards which is 2. I already had a Cap1 Plat and a HSBC that was just taken over by Cap1 and reported that month as a Cap1 card. The denial letter even stated that as the reason for denying me. I ended up closing the HSBC card in July just incase I wanted to reapply for the Green cash rewards card at a later time, and I didn't really need the $300 CL.
I seen that the Kohl's Charge card is backed by Cap1 now. So will this create a problem later on if i wanted to go for the Green card? My wife frequents Kohl's and I was thinking about getting a card there, but I don't wanna run into a problem later down the road and already be maxed out on my Cap1 cards allowed.
So are the actual Cap1 CC's different from the Cap1 backed store cards?
thanks,
John
To be honest, not sure, but I've read the store cards do not count against your 2 card limit.
Store cards do not count.
thanks guys...appreciate it!

+1
Piggy backing on this, now that Orchard Bank is part of Cap One, does an Orchard card count against this limit?
a couple different CSR's told me in my frequent random chats with them that there is no cap on 2 cards at one time; when asking about applying for different cards in the future.
Is this their way of tricking people into applying for a credit card just to hurt their chances of moving up for a year because of the 3 HP.

I know HSBC cards do, so I assume Orchard does as well.
Also, it's not tricking you, some CSR are just misinformed, they don't gain anything from pulling your credit, you're already a customer, they have permission to pull your credit at any time (AFAIK)
Also, I believe if you have the max amount of Cap1 cards allowed (2) that they won't pull your credit, that they will deny you and send you a letter saying you have too many cards. The common response to this (if they won't PC you) is to close one card, wait 45 days (for it to report) and then apply for a new one.

Yes, it counts. it is not store branded.
I think having even 1 Capitol One card is way too much in my book.
