Cap1 billing question on my CC

Forgot I had a $14.95 charge on my Cap1 card.  I paid it tonight but it was after 5:00 pm so the payment will be processed tomorrow.  My statement cuts tomorrow (1/24/13).  So the question is what balance will my card report? $14.95 or Zero!

Kicking myself for not checking this sooner but I didnt think I had any charges on the card (I had PIF the card about 8 days ago and hadnt used it since.)

I would think it would report as $14.95 because the payment was not processed before the statement.

Re: Cap1 billing question on my CC

As long as the statement cuts after business tomorrow, it'll be $0.

Although, if they cut the statement at 5 tomorrow, but process your payment before that then it should be 0.

Re: Cap1 billing question on my CC

Hmmmm.....I swear this happened to me once a few months back and I ended up with a zero balance on my statement.  Of course, this is Cap One we're talking about, so obviously YMMV.

Re: Cap1 billing question on my CC

Thanks for the replies.  I hope its zero.  I have higher than normal UTIL (about 30% on my NFCU - 8.4k balance and 14% on Walmart Discover - 700 balance) and I'm trying to keep my other cards in check while I pay off my holiday/remodel spending.

No apping.  I just got BCP and Discover It.  I have some higher than normal UTIL and wanted to control my other posted balances while I pay off the other two cc's.

P.s. can you setup a Autopayment to PIF a day before your statement cuts?

Not from your bank. They use the statement to get the amount to pay. If it's an autopayment, you can set your bank to pay the same amount on the same day the charge hits your card, that's what I do. Sometimes the payment clears before the charge even hits though.
