Cap1 declined- But Discover It Approved!

I've had a cap1 secure card-$300 for almost 2yrs- no other major credit card ( I do have a target card). Never been late -Never missed a payment. I applied for a rewards card last week and Cap1 denied me for not having enough credit. I just applied for a Discover It card this morning - they called me back by 3pm and approved me for $5000. Capital 1 not sure how you rate your customers - but you just lost a good one!

Did you use Cap1 prequalify and pick from the list?

Discover does seem to be tightening up a little bit lately with CLI's and approvals.. At least from what i see on the boards

Even so, I doubt its as bad as capitla one.

Throw in way more benefits, %5 cash back, shopdiscover, and random bonus days (like oct 6th 2% cash back) and its a win!

Lately Cap1 (since the Exec. number has been exposed) has changed their mind on CLI's. So they're sort of climbing out of that sub-prime pit they've been in for years.
