Cap1 secured AF question

Come May my Cap1 secured card will make one year old. I've come a tremendous way since then and really don't need the secured card any more. Ill keep it open for another year if they waive the AF. My question is when do I ask them to waive it? How close to the 1 year anniversary do I look into this?

Thanks

11 months.

Curious to know if it works, I did not try with mine.

Re: Cap1 secured AF question

Even if they don't waive it I may keep 1 extra year. I don't like closing a card that isn't at least 2 years old.

I'm glad you started this thread Duncan, I'm in the same boat as you, mine will be 1 year on May 1st. So I guess I'll call in next month. Do you know if it's better to call the EO or will front line usually waive the fee? Sorry D, not trying to hijack your thread, thought the question may be helpful to you as well. Smiley Happy

My DH req his waiver (Orchard Bank) last month and his fee would have been charged in April.

Re: Cap1 secured AF question

I think it's worth it even to pay the annual fee if you are wanting to build AAoA. But hopefully you can get it waived.

Re: Cap1 secured AF question

My AAoA is 10 years with 35 accounts. I have 3 AMEX's backdated to 1993 so not worried about AAoA.
