Capital One Holding me Back?!?

Apped for a prime card, which was declined and currently in Recon phase.

And one of the reasons for denial was FICO scoring &  'Our analysis of the credit risk associated with customers who have accounts from the creditor(s) indicated in your credit report... **bleep**?! That's stereotyping, if I ever saw it...

So, basically, before I can garden prime, I have to get rid of sub prime?

It has to be something else, because I never thought of Capital One as sub-prime, because it has the venture card....or maybe that phrase means something else...

Re: Capital One Holding me Back?!?

I highly doubt that was a major reason in your denial. I applied and was approved for a prime card with just a sub prime cap one on my file.

Re: Capital One Holding me Back?!?

FICO Scoring (640) was the main reason...and that was in the list....American Express Zync

Re: Capital One Holding me Back?!?

Yeah, I'd be willing to bet that FICO score was one of the major reasons for denial. If you can get that score upto the 670+ range in the next few months you will have a much better chance of being approved =)

Re: Capital One Holding me Back?!?

I have two CapOne and was approved Saturday for Zync (with thin file). So I guess it was mainly based on your score.

Re: Capital One Holding me Back?!?

Nope, had C1 for over 4 years when i applied for a Zync also had C1  still on my report when i picked up a Delta Gold Revolver. They said nothing. Maybe a lack of prime cards + score? Seems strange

Re: Capital One Holding me Back?!?

Raven,

Is the Cap One card your only tradeline? As other posters have intimated while there are some subprime lenders we've seen that with, historically Cap One has not been included with them. C1 is not the bottom of the subprime market.

Also on denial letters usually there will be four or so reasons, and anecdotally anything after the first two might as well be determined by Oujia board for all the relevancy they have.

While there is absolutely more to approvals than FICO score, I just don't think that Cap One is a serious negative. I was recently approved for a Zync with one and the rest of my report isn't pretty either.

I have to agree with Rev on this one. I have 4 cap1 cards on file and have been denied for quite a few things, but never once was that listed as a reason. Like Rev, i was also approved for the Zync card with cap1 cards being what made up most (if not all) of my revolving trade lines.

Re: Capital One Holding me Back?!?

I know AMEX will look down on you if you are using First Premier, Credit One, etc, but never Capital One.

I used to have Capital One and when I apped for Zync AMEX says nothing to my Capital One account.
