Capital One Platinum Mastercard & annual fee

It seems that some folks pay annual fee for their Captial One Platinum Mastercard.  Also, the capital one website says that AF is waived for the first year only.   I opened mine a while back and have never paid AF.  Are others on the same boat as me?  Will I be hit with an AF at some point?  Can they do that if they choose to on an existing account?

I think Capital One varies this per person or it changed.  I got my Cap One Platinum MC in August and I have no AF.  I called to ask and they told me they couldn't see if I was on a one year waived promo or not (their CSRs are the worst).  So I went online and requested my card terms be mailed to me.  You can do that from their website.  When it came, the terms say I have no AF.  My wife has the same card with a $39 AF (ouch!)

You would have to read your original paperwork when received the card.

Not every one pays an AF with Cap One.

If you do have an annual fee on your account you can call an request them to waive it. Some people are successful with this, others aren't. Like a lot of Cap1 policies it seems to be random at times.

Re: Capital One Platinum Mastercard & annual fee

Mine has the annual fee which I was just hit with. Since they refuse to raise the limit above $750 after 4 years I called last night and asked them to either waive the fee or close the account. I was transferred to a senior rep who immediately waived the fee and wished me well. I was kind of surprised I didn't really have to fight them on it.

I had one with no annual fee that I closed recently.  It was sent to me as a special offer.  You should check your cardmember agreement that came with your card.

[ Edited ]

I recieved two cap 1 cards last year - secured cards.

I paid $49min deposit and got a $200 CL, Member fee of $24 and APR is 19%

2nd Cap 1 I had to pay the full $200 deposit  for a $200 CL, Member fee of $29.00 and the APR is 22.9%

Odd how CAP1 seems to have so many diferent card agreements. Its like playing a casino machine!!!
