Just an FYI for those who may contemplate closing their secured Capital One credit card.
I closed my secured Cap One (quick & easy via automated line) on Monday, July 8th. Today (Monday, July 15th) I received my security deposit refund check in the mail.
That's much faster than the minimum 2 weeks I was expecting.
I kept my Cap One secured for 1 year (13 billing cycles to be exact). I closed it avoid the annual fee for the next year & because the card wouldn't grow (no unsecured CLI, etc).
I also had recently acquired Barclaycard and Chase in June, plus have a partially secured Bank of America -- all with higher CL than the $300 CL on Capital One (of which I only deposited $199).
I closed my secured card in mid-April and didn't get my refund until late May. I guess everything credit related is YMMV.
I closed mine to avoid AF and got my deposit within 10 days.
