Capital One - hit and miss.

This weekend, i hit the "Luv" button and I got a 10 day notice. Eh, I'll call the EO later, right?

Today I pulled teh trigger. I called regular customer service and asked if I could change my platinum card into a Quicksilver Rewards without the annual fee. No problem! "Do you know about my CLI?" "No." "Can you fix my interest rate?" "No." My interest rate, btw, is 23.9%. Quicksilver Rewards is supposed to be from 12.9% to 20.9%.

I followed up with a call to the EO. Temporary decrease (7 months) to 18.9%. No dice on the CLI (Ask again in 6 months - reason for rejection is that I don't use enough of my CL).

I found out something amusing, though. My cash advance APR is 17.85%. Both the regular and the EO CSR told me that. Where else can you get a card with a lower cash advance APR than your regular purchase APR? SERIOUSLY?

Anyway. I'm happy for the product change...same card #, and when I get it, I can order one with the custom picture that's on my current card.

Try you again in 6 months, Capital One! With the rewards, though, I do have my energy bill and my cell phone bill auto-paying through the card.

Re: Capital One - hit and miss.

I (like an idiot!) applied for the Quicksilver card this last weekend as I was "pre-qualified" through a CC website (not C1).  My thinking was this would be an easy $100 bonus and a good no AF 1.5% cash back card.  My FICOs are in the low 800's and I have had credit for 31+ years.  I currently carry less than 1% UTIL on my CCs, have a 3+ year old auto loan and a 2.5 year old mortgage reporting.  Looked at the screen after hitting SUBMIT, saw the wheels spinning for about a minute (while they pulled 3 CBRs!) and the screen comes back and says approved for $3k @ 20.9% interest after the 0% promo!!  Smiley Mad Are they kidding me??  I've had two previously C1-managed CCs before with 10k+ limits and never late.  I also have deposit accounts and an investment account with ING Direct (now C1 360).  So I'm going to wait until I receive my card and then I will immediately shoot an e-mail out to their EO seeing why this approval is so low and why someone with an 800+ FICO score would be given their highest APR for this card.  I hope that this is not going to be an indication of how this relationship is going to play out.

This was definitely a MISS!!

Re: Capital One - hit and miss.

That is a ridiculous APR for your scores! And history! Heck, that CL is dumb, too. You should get all 3 FICOs out of it, though, right? I got my EQ score with my denial letter. And a SP for it.
