Re: Capital One now officially rocks!

I currently have a CapOne card with a 1000 limit and can't get a CL and I've had the card about five years now.  They tell me my card is unable to receive CL but I could apply for a new card with a higher CL with them.  I don't want the inquiry and I don't use the card (I really want the CL to round out with my other, higher CLs) but I'm glad everything worked out for you.

Customer initiated CLIs usually result in a hard inq anyway.  If you dont have any recent inquiries or if you're not planning on going for any major credit in the near future, you might as well.  Although I think I heard capone wont combine cards CLs.  In that case, it might be a waste.

I asked the Account Specialist that question.  She said no way!  I'm only checking your internal account for offers available to you.  This will not even come with a soft inquiry.

Re: Capital One now officially rocks!

I have 5 straight months calling Capital one I even say that I want to make CapOne my # 1 card in my wallet and another time I tell them that I want to make CapOne my everyday purchases card and they never have an update for my card. I'm going to stop bother calling them and put the card in a drawer and use my credit union card.

Re: Capital One now officially rocks!

Wow! I agree " capital one ROCKS" I had a 500 CL on a card I've had since December 2007 I received an initial 300 CL. A few months later I received a 200 CLI through C1 credit steps. So after reading everyone's coments about C1 I decided to give it a try and this very nice lady told me she could approve me for a 500 CLI within 3 days I never would've thought I'd be able to get an increase so soon. WOO HOO! I would've had no idea if it wasn't for these forums.

When I asked for the CLI they didn't do a hard inquiry.  I believe they just looked at my history, which didn't work in my favor.  I don't use CapOne anymore except once or a twice a year to keep it active.  They even sent me a "nice" letter one time that they were going to close my card if I didn't use it.

Re: Capital One now officially rocks!

Well, I like Cap One a little more now...but it's still tentative.

I looked up and called a back door number to check on my current application for another card.

At the end of May(?), beginning of June, I'd applied for another card with them. I wanted to close out a starter card and go with Cap--if they didn't attach an AF to the card I got.

Considering that I'm already a Cap One account holder, I thought a new app would be easy. NOT!!
Had to go through the same b.s. to verify who I was. Okay...then, they weren't getting the info in their system correctly. Yada, yahda and yaadaa.

So....fed up (since I was going to BT from the starter card, but it'll be PIF next payment anyway), I called today as a last ditch to get resolution on that app.

It's declined. Probably because they still can't verify I am who I say *scratching head*. I'm supposed to get a letter from them.

Anyway...back to that back door number...

They raised the CL on the existing account. Granted, it's NOT a whole lot at all, but it went to 4 digits, it helps with utilization, it's got a low IR if I balance carry and that increase was on top of that meager increase I got last month.

So...for today, I'll not speak poorly of Cap One.
