Capital One question....

Has anyone apped for a Cap One card with a paid CO that is about 7 years old?

I know that just a couple years after I paid this off & GW the bejeesus out of them & they removed, I had re-apped & they denied me.

Are they just a lost cause?  Should I give up & look toward other pastures?  I'm only interested in their Quicksilver card.

Anyone know who they pull in VA?

Re: Capital One question....

I'm not sure about your particular circumstances, but as said before, Cap One seems to pull from all 3 bureaus. They did for me in NY.

If you don't have success, definitely call for recon. I used a branch manager to help with mine, as I have an active banking relationship with them. If you do not, you can still look into reconsideration.

Wow...I'm not feeling it's worth a triple pull with only a 50/50 approval shot.  Boo....Smiley Frustrated

Thanks for the heads-up!

Re: Capital One question....

Usually CapOne is very forgiving after a few years of a CO.  However, to get the QS card without the AF your report probably needs to be free of any baddies, so if not you might want to wait just a little time until it is.  If you don't mind the AF then you should be ok if you have no recent negatives.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.

The standards for QS might be more stringent.     I know that I was system denied in March for the Sony Card and was able to recon for approval.   I have two prior COs with Cap One (1 settled, one that fell off reports).

Re: Capital One question....

Ok...tried copying all your questions in here & it's just not behaving, so anywho:

TiggerDat..... I have one baddie that will fall off Experian in Feb '16.  Might wait foir that if that is who they pull.

CreditAddict.... I did check that.  It said "BungalowMo, , we couldn't match your records to a card offer.

But based on your answers, we think you might like this card."

Then they had a pic of the QS card!!

BigBlue....  I really do want this card...but after gardening for 6 mo since my car loan, I'm a little shaky!  (read- chicken!)

SunriseEarth....  So...apparently they do forgive...  Smiley Happy

Re: Capital One question....

My QS1 was approved a month after I paid my chargeoff. Not that I would pre qualify for anything, as my scores could confirm it apparently said congratulations. I say apparently because in expecting a denial, I closed the screen before my brain fully understood "congratulations I was approved.". It's only $300 steps to $500, but since I use it was a debit card for the cash back I push $700 on average a month making multiple payments.

I hope it helps and yes they pulled all 3 reports on me. - good luck should you try.
