CapitalOne Overlimit Question

I have 2 cap 1 visa cards and I went over my limit on one card by 8 dollars (with a credit limit of 300 dollars).  Now the customer service rep said that it would not reflect negatively on my report since I paid my balance in full today (308 dollars).  Will this affect my credit limit increase in 90 days.  They also gave my due date as being Jan 0001 which makes no sense (I have seen this discussed before on this board).  For this reason, I did not take into account the annual fee which caused me to go over my limit.  How bad did I mess up guys?  Should I call the back door number and ask them to consider me for the increase even though I had this snafu?

Re: CapitalOne Overlimit Question

You could try that. I know I had made a mistake on my Contintal Card and they were understanding and still gave me a CLI. I did not go over the limit I was late on my payment due to a mix up. I made 2 payments on the same day to my husbands card and one was supose to be on mine. So they called after I missed my payment. I explained I made the payment and gave them Conf. # and that is how I found out I goofed but they let it go. You may want to explain to them that you forgot that the Anuual Fee was due and since it was only $8.00 over they may still give you the increase and try a GW if they report to the CB.

Good Luck,
Debbie

Re: CapitalOne Overlimit Question

It may not effect your credit score at all.

But it VERY well might put you up to the default interest rate of 29.34% or close to it. That's what happened to me. And it could jeprodize your chances of getting a cli later than if you did not have that $35.00 over the limit fee.

Here is the back door # I use to talk to the acct. specialists: 800-899-9939

You can also try Customer Relations: 800-951-6951

Good luck and let us know how it went.

Re: CapitalOne Overlimit Question

I played the stupid role by saying all of my other cards didn't take out the annual fee until the end of your first year. when i told him that the annual fee took me over the credit limit he said sorry i'll take care of it and gave me a $400 cli on the spot

Re: CapitalOne Overlimit Question

I had almost the exact same situation with CO when i first got the card, I was OL by about $1. I didn't get the OL fee nor did my interest rate go up (it was the annual fee that put me OL), but I had to wait 5 months instead of 3 to get the automatic CLI to $500. Not a problem since then!

Re: CapitalOne Overlimit Question

Since both my cards are at a 300 dollar credit limit, do you think Cap1 will wait five months to increase the limit on both cards or just the one in which I went over the limit? Also, both cards are currently at a zero balance.

Re: CapitalOne Overlimit Question

How old are the 2 Cap1 cards?

Many people have received an automatic cli after 3 months of perfect history.

Another shcool of thought that if you pif, and do not use it even one single time, that in 3 months time they give you a cli inticing you to use it.

I guess it would come down to what other things are on your credit report. Any baddies, other than over the limit(it will be reported, but won't adversely effect your score, imo)

Re: CapitalOne Overlimit Question

One Cap1 card is about 2 months old and the new one (which I went overlimit on) is about 3 weeks old.  I do have some serious baddies on my report that need rectification.
