Car down payment with Amex CC?

I used my PRG to put $5,000.00 down, I tried to buy the whole car ($63,500.00) on it but they wouldn't let me

When I bought my daughters car I put 4k on one of my cards. First I asked the guy if they took hot checks and he said "We sure d..wait what?" lol. The look on his face was priceless. He scrutinized the card and transaction pretty good before giving me the keys.

I tried to put the entire cost of a new car on my Amex card just for the points. Was told that it was illegal in the state where I was purchasing the car. Ended up just writing out a check instead. All those points gone! I still haven't gotten over it.

I actually bought a $22.5k car entirely on my card - negotiated the price to where it was a great deal then at the last minute said my only remaining condition was I wanted to pay with my Chase SW card. They initially said no, so I left and they called and said they would do it and waive the fee. I think it's always a good idea to put as much on your card as possible as long as you have the cash to turn around and pay it off. I actually made the full payment to my Chase card while I still sitting in the dealership.

Just put 3600 on my Hilton but have a BT set up for my BOA Travel card so it will be paid in a couple of days.  I always use them for larger purchases.  Venture also.
