If your'e in College I dont see the need to have more then 2 maybe 3 cards. The SM card would be great for College with the 5% on Book stores and the Double Cash/ Quick Silver cards are great since they offer 1.5% or 2% CB on all purchases

Re: Cards in college

Rising junior. I carry my Freedom, Discover It, and BCE.

School's CU card is sitting in SD because 2x Discover promo (or even 1x UR) is more valuable than 1.1% back.

Same for Chase Amazon right now.

I might app for Sallie Mae soon since I do buy groceries and products on Amazon on occasion.

Also may app for a Delta Gold for the sign-up bonus (waiting for 50k?) and free first bag because I do fly between LGA and DTW during school breaks.

I'll also app for DC when Discover's 2x promo.

IF you buy on Amazon why not look at the Store card if you have Amazon prime? I am not sure how Prime works if you got the Student version but I would think it would also qualify for the 5% CB with it.

Works out to be a $99 AF for 5% but TBH I would be having Prime either way so its a valuable 5% CB with the other perks

Re: Cards in college

I currently carry Discover it Chrome, chase freedom, and bank Americard. Also considering adding NFL Extra Points card before finishing my last year of school without any further applications

TBH unless you go see NFL games the card is pretty useless. I would save your HP lol. I only apped for it because  I am a huge Denver Broncos fan and just liked the card

Re: Cards in college

I'm coming into my junior year. I regularly carry CSP, sallie Mae, delta Amex and Capone QS. I have all together 6 cards. Around 30k total in lines with my CSP being the highest at 7.5k

Re: Cards in college

I do buy NFL merchandise occasionally, and that 20% off discount could come in really handy especially around Christmas time with a family full of football fans.

from what I've read, CLI are pretty good if you use the card occasionally and pay in full.

Re: Cards in college

My student prime expired last year. It's $49 to renew for students, but I don't need the 2-day shipping so the store card doesn't really do much for me. I actually have a few hundred in Amazon GCs sitting in my account from Freedom's Q4. At least I'll be getting 5% back on groceries as well with the Sallie Mae.

I have it and it's decent with CLI. Got the card with a $500 limit. They auto it up to $2,000 and I just asked for one and got a $1,000 increase to $3,000
